The 蹤獲扦 Higher Education Group (RSC HEG) represents those with interest in chemistry in higher education. Our community provides a supportive network promoting collaboration, innovation, and dissemination of effective learning and teaching practice throughout the chemical sciences.
Aims
- To represent practicing colleagues with an interest in chemical science education, including but not limited to, higher education.
- To provide a forum for the fruitful discussion of the teaching and learning of chemistry at a higher level.
- To support and promote the development, dissemination and wider use of effective teaching and learning activities.
- To promote the wider recognition of good work in chemical education at this level.
Activities
The Group organises the annual summer Variety in Chemistry Education and Physics Higher Education Conference (ViCEPHEC), usually attended by around 150 academics, which includes poster presentations, software demonstrations, oral presentations, interactive workshop sessions and informal discussion. We also hold a winter meeting focusing on a particular educational theme (a recent example was Assessment for Learning).
We sponsor several other educational meetings and conferences including Methods in Chemistry Education Research (MiCER) and Methods of Research in Science Education (MORSE), and provide bursaries for ViCEPHEC conference attendance, and support education projects through Kickstarter Funding Awards.
