Professor Barry Potter was Head of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Bath for over 20 years and has brought academically-discovered drugs to multiple clinical trials and co-founded a spin-out biotech company acquired by Big Pharma, where he was a board director and Chief Scientific Officer. He also worked for many years in a formal academic-pharma industry drug discovery partnership.
He is Professor of Medicinal & Biological Chemistry at Oxford University and a Fellow of University College Oxford. He serves on numerous editorial boards and has published over 550 papers in synthetic chemistry applied to Biology & Medicine.
An inventor of 45 granted US patent families with over 700 international patent filings to his name he has won both industrial awards and academic 蹤獲扦 medals for both his interdisciplinary and drug discovery work. Professor Potter has wide experience in synthetic chemistry directed to drug discovery and through OxMedChem Consulting and Oxford University Consulting provides services to the international pharma industry, law firms, patent attorneys etc on aspects of Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery, including Expert Report /Witness activities.
He is a Fellow of the UK National Academy of Medical Sciences and a Fellow of the 蹤獲扦 and the Royal Society of Biology.
