Miss Hazel R Brand obituary
21 February 1937 – 4 December 2024
Hazel Brand (87) was the only daughter of George Brand and Agnes Brand, née Hazell. She was unmarried, predeceased by two elder brothers and survived by nine nephews and nieces. Unusually in this day and age, she lived her whole life in one house in New Eltham, South London.
She was educated at Eltham Hill girls’ grammar school. After leaving school she started work in the laboratory at the Klinger’s factory in Sidcup. In her spare time she gained an Open University degree in chemistry. She joined the ÂÜÀòÉç in 1970 and in 2020 received a certificate recognising her 50 years of continuous membership.
Hazel’s whole working life was spent at Klinger’s, a small factory in Sidcup. She gradually rose to being second in command of the laboratories that performed both quality control and research functions.
She was a lifelong member of the Girl Guides. She became a company leader in 1960, Division Commissioner in 1980, County Commissioner for London South East in 1990 and County President in 2011.
The funeral was held at Holy Trinity Church in New Eltham on 16th January. Donations to the Girl Guides are requested.
