This workshop will focus on two case studies about the path from inception to drug realisation from two eminent researchers. We will also hear an account of analytical work to develop a new approach to the analysis of the adulteration of an important pharmaceutical.
Speakers:
Prof Helen Osborn, Head of Pharmacy/Chemistry at University of Reading will talk about some of the challenges and opportunities in the development of carbohydrate-based therapeutics.
Prof Barbara Mulloy, Imperial College will discuss how, in conjunction with the US FDA, a serious incident of illegal contamination of Heparin was tackled.
Dr Derek Clissold, MD of LipidEv Ltd will talk about a new class of lipid based anti-inflammatory drugs and analgesics being developed.
