The LIBS technique is facing a historic turning point. The driving forces come from the advance of the fundamental research, constantly pushing our knowledge beyond the limits, as well as the emergence of the new applications, made necessary day after day by the societal progress which expects a more sustainable development. By hosting the conference in such circumstance, the French LIBS community is aware of the importance of the task to answer the inspiration of the international LIBS scientific and technological community, which is indeed its deep motivation in organizing the event.
