The 16th annual Science and the Parliament event will this year concentrate on science, technology, engineering & mathematics (STEM) education, including consideration of many of the recommendations of the recent STEMEC report received by the Scottish Government. The focus will mainly be on school education, though the effects on progression to Further and Higher Education will also be considered.
The ÂÜÀòÉç will be inviting individual delegates and exhibiting partner organisations from across the scientific community in Scotland to take part. The audience will be made up of people from the education sector, broader scientific community – public, private & 3rd sector, as well as policy makers including leading politicians.
Confirmed speakers to date include: Sir John Holman, President of the ÂÜÀòÉç; Professor Sheila Rowan, Chief Scientific Adviser to the Scottish Government; and Dr Heather Reid. A senior Government Minister and spokespeople for the opposition parties in the Scottish Parliament have also been invited.
