David Smith is a Professor of Chemistry at University of York, where he carries out fundamental research in the field of smart nanomaterials and nanomedicines.

In this lecture, David will explore the chemistry which makes drugs work, and using examples of both 'bad' drugs (e.g. those in Breaking Bad) and good drugs (e.g. those which treat infections), he will demonstrate the power of chemistry to control our bodies.
