BNASS 2022: The 20th Biennial National Atomic Spectroscopy Symposium

28 June 2022 09:00 - 29 June 2022 14:00, Manchester , United Kingdom

Introduction

Introduction

BNASS (Biennial National Atomic Spectroscopy Symposium) is the biennial meeting of the RSC Atomic Spectroscopy Group and provides an ideal forum to encourage the exchange of ideas and knowledge in analytical atomic spectroscopy. BNASS will celebrate its 20th event and during its history, there have been some tremendous changes in atomic spectroscopy. These advances have been showcased at BNASS, which has built an international reputation for both the quality of the science presented and the unique style of the symposium, enabling delegates to meet and discuss issues in a social setting. The meeting includes a mix of established and younger speakers, and the organisers would especially like to encourage young researchers to present their results in short oral presentations within each of the topic sessions.

The programme is now available! Further guidance for the posters is also available. See the Downloads section.

  • New spectrometry developments
  • Instrumentation fundamentals
  • Measurement of nanoparticles and single cells

Social Event

On Tuesday evening, we will be hosting a social event at the venue to enable a chance to continue discussions from the day and catch up. It will feature a Manchester speciality - curry! By holding it at the venue, it minimises the number of locations and the venue itself is very airy with plenty of space, seating and air movement.

Keynote Speakers

We have confirmed three fantastic keynote speakers:

  • Dr Heidi Goenaga-Infante, LGC, UK, presenting: Nanomaterials in life sciences: Advances in Standardization, Measurement Methods, Reference Materials and Remaining Challenges Imposed by Regulation

  • Prof Maria Montes-Bayon, University of Oviedo, Spain, presenting: Quantitative Biomarker Analysis via ICP-MS: A Focus on the Breast Cancer Marker (HER-2)

We also have an invited talk from Dr David Green, Imperial College London, UK, presenting: Atmospheric Particulate Measurement and Source Apportionment using High Time Resolution X-ray Fluorescence and Aerosol Mass Spectrometry
