Introduction
TITLE: Women and Girls participation in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM)-A Necessity

IMPORTANCE OF THE PROJECT: This programme is to sentisize women and girls for career in science especially chemistry or STEMM. It is especially targeted at girls in High school or Secondary schools. The purpose of the workshop is to enlighten women scientists. We intend to call seasoned academicians in this field to come and deliver lectures on the importance of women and girls participation in STEMM and time and resources optimization for career advancement of women Scientists. The programme will take place at Isabatudeen Girls Grammar School which basically is to enlighten students especially the girl child on the importance of choosing Science especially Chemistry as a profession and other STEMM subjects. Many students stand to gain from this engagement which is not limited to chemistry or chemistry education undergraduate/postgraduate students alone. Recently, STEMM courses/Chemistry as a course or as necessity in everyday life is a farce to youths in Third world or developing countries, Nigeria inclusive. Student believe the social science and Art courses like Accountancy and Music pay more  As a woman, a mother, researcher, scientist etc, I also observed that career advancement and ultimately global impact  is often a mirage or an achievement for most women. Women Scientists in particular face the dilemma of utilizing time productively to advance their research and careers while managing the peculiarities of being a female or woman in Science. This grant if awarded will make us reach out to women scientists and girls in our community.GOAL: Our major goal is to improve access to educational, training and professional development opportunities for all scientists (women/students/practitioners) in an effort to inspire women and girls in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine)
OBJECTIVES: To bring together as many chemistry lecturers, researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate students and other students from Faculty of science and lecture them choosing STEMM as a career and how to effectively manage their time and order resources for their career advancement. Also, to inspire the girl child in High school for career opportunity in STEMM.
