Communicating sustainability: enhancing research impact

6 November 2024 11:30-16:45, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
This workshop is focused on improving communication skills to effectively promote sustainable solutions. Aimed at doctoral students and early career researchers, participants will tackle environmental challenges. You will do this by collaborating with others in different fields and working in teams to communicate how you might solve these challenges.

The workshop will help you to enhance your communication skills and to improve your research pitching skills. It is also designed to foster engagement, stimulate meaningful discussions and facilitate networking opportunities within the environmental sustainability community.

This workshop will help participants to:
  •  confidently pitch their research to non-technical audiences;
  • raise awareness about sustainability issues and their importance within the research community.
  • have dynamic discussions and idea exchanges among participants, promoting collaborative thinking.
At the end of the workshop, participants will be better able to:
  • present their research in a clear and engaging manner to diverse audiences, including those without a technical background.
  • participate in discussions about sustainability challenges and solutions, drawing on their own insights and that of their peers.
  • apply communication strategies in their professional interactions, fostering greater impact and collaboration in their work on environmental sustainability.
This event is a joint meeting of the RSC Environmental Chemistry Group, the RSC Management Interest Group and the Sustainability Working Group (Reserchers' Society; MRC Centre for Environment, the Environmental Exposure and Health HPRU and Chemical Radiation Threats and Hazards HPRU at Imperial College London).
